The air is moist and cool. Filled with the scent of damp leaves and dirt. Birds chirped in the distance. Clouds keeping the sun at bay. The world could be frozen outside of the woods, I would never know. Nothing mattered. The world was right. It was cold and wet but the world was perfect. My son ran before me. Chasing a squirrel into a nearby pine. He was a ball of joy.
